So you have got your game down. Anything they want to bring, they call and you are ready… But what about when they don't call, what about the unannounced arrival, the code at triage, the zero warning resus?
This was a podcast I did on my coaching partner, Rob Orman's Stimulus podcast. He was kind enough to let me republish it here

Stellar episode as usual from you guys! I think this is definitely the one topic in Emergency Medicine with the greatest disparity between how incredibly impactful it is and how little it’s formally taught. Really the philosophy for successful performance in any high-pressure/high-stakes sport. It’s just that mastering this mindset in the sport we call Resuscitation also happens to literally save lives.
Cheers and Happy Holidays to you both.
Sam
I feel privileged to have heard this pod. all of it good, all helpful. as Sam says, “ It’s just that mastering this mindset in the sport we call Resuscitation also happens to literally save lives.” We have a responsibility to be our very best Resus docs (and that includes personal wellness, I suspect) to have the honor to be Resus docs.
thanks guys. see you in February at Flameproof.
Setting up to be ready and have all the supplies is a group project. We all have to agree what is needed for each procedure. We all need to be part of the restocking and checking each shift. It all goes sideways if only half the staff are motivated.
