I am a recent RLA graduate, working in a rural Louisiana hospital.
Been promoting this kind of model for a while now, ( without knowing it) with all kind of pushback. Finally, some support. Thank you, and I’m on IT!!
Why not use telemedicine instead of coming in?
As a EMSTAT nurse whom works with this program… you really benefit in MD being at beside, not only for real time care but for procedures, lines, and intubations. With no one present to do things it delays patients care and giving them their optimal outcome.
Nice work Eric! Kudos to you and your team!!
Certainly not all CAHs are the same and with our 5 bed ED and twice as many upstairs beds it may be challenging for us to have a dedicated EMSTAT Team. I’ve been working on letting me dedicate one room in the ED as a critical care/ICU bed so I can keep pts that are “too” sick per the hospitalist to keep but whom I feel I can get them to turn the proverbial corner and then send them upstairs vs air transporting them out. Will see how this plays out
