Yes please include a section on APRV for the COVID patient. Dr. Habashi would be a great guest to lend his expertise. I think some COVID patients would benefit from APRV given their relatively preserved compliance but refractory hypoxemia. Proning has been getting most of the attention in this pandemic but I have serious concerns about patient and staff safety especially at centers in the United States where manual proning is not commonplace as well as higher obesity rates. A chapter on APRV would be great. In europe, especially Germany, BIPAP is always chosen. There is no teaching on APRV. Greetings from Germany.

More information on APRV would be great! We’ve had a couple of patients who were put on APRV, some didn’t tolerate it as well but the ones that did had a significant increase in oxygenation.

I maybe way off base here and reading way to much into things but has anyone thought of using change of pressure ie atmospheres, by using hyperbaric pressures similar to treating dive injury. The virus seems to cause hypoxia, based on what have been reading this is about pressure and recruiting alveoli to help restore lung structure there by improving oxygenation. Hypothesis, using CPAP in conjunction with hyperbaric chamber to bring the pt down to one atmosphere below sea level, or more, this should improve recruitment and oxygenation as well as oxygen carrying capabilities.
