How many EM folks out there have access to a flexible fiberoptic scope in the ED?
We don’t but we bought a rigid fiberoptic stylet specifically to intubate through the laryngeal airways, it works great and is solid state so evil EM residents can’t break it as easily : )
The rigid fiberoptic stylet you use is called? Is it the one the company air-q encourages you to use with its product or is it like the Levitan FPS scope?
we had the bonfils. works with the FPS. Air-Q made their own.
We have a flex fiberoptic but unfortunately don’t use it that much–what are your thoughts on awake fiberoptic intubation in the ED by emergency physicians rather than anesthesia?
