Of all intoxications, salicylate is one of the most important to understand. These patients can unravel rapidly, with fatal outcome. However, with prompt management most patients will do fine. Treatment depends on a solid grasp of the underlying chemistry and renal physiology.

Thanks for the post – very informative.
A lot of the units I work in don’t do IHD and our renal units tend not to take patients who are sick
So between CVVH, CVVHD and CVVHDF what is the best modality to clear Salicylate
Also would you recommend Citrate anticoagulation as the first choice
