Local Anesthetic Systemic Toxicity (LAST) is fortunately extremely rare. However, with the ongoing expansion of nerve blocks and lidocaine infusions in a variety of different contexts, this is likely to be seen more often over time. Prompt recognition and antidotal therapy are essential.
