Recently, airway mavins George Kovacs and Adam Law released their book Airway Management in Emergencies, Infinity Edition. What's unique about this clinical magnum opus is that it is both free open access and it is a living document. As opposed to publishing version after version of a text book, this edition will be continually updated by the authors and remain online.
George asked me to assist with the Human Factors chapter. What started as simply addressing a few topics turned into a substantial book chapter. With George as lead author, and with the the help of other clinical juggernauts like Adam Law and Pat Croskerry, we built what we hope will be a practical, comprehensive discussion of non-technical skills as it applies to airway management.
In the true spirit of FOAM, we invite the EMCrit readers to check out the chapter and provide any feedback in the comments section below. We hope that with input from our colleagues around the world, we can continue to improve Human Factors in airway management.
