Hypovolemia Assessment
Echocardiographic signs of a suspected diagnosis
of hypovolemia are an underfilled right ventricle, hyperkinetic left ventricular
wall motion, and close ventricular walls, or kissing trabecular muscles.
Hypovolemia can be detected by measuring left ventricular end-diastolic volume
or area (54) and is therefore a clinical variable used to
assess preload.
Closure of left ventricle in systole
i. >50% within normal limits
ii. <30% significantly depressed
iii. 90-100% hyperdynamic
